Costs for installation, dismantling and conversion

Many bathroom costs are determined by individual factors – for example, the cost of your dream bath, your preferred tiles or how much money you want to spend on your new shower. Budgets for material and labour costs will vary, depending on the size of your bathroom, the extent of the work required and your personal needs, if you are to design a bathroom that perfectly reflects your vision. If you are refurbishing your bathroom, you might also want or need new water connections, pipes, electrics, ventilation or heating, and this will also need factoring into the overall cost. Costs for this work may vary depending on the region and supplier.

On balance, high-quality bathrooms often cost less

If you install a shower or bath in your new bathroom that still looks good in ten or fifteen years' time and still works like new, then you will have made a good investment. The same applies to thoughtful planning with easy-care surfaces, modern taps and shower heads, and LED lighting – helping you enjoy lasting comfort in your bathroom.

Think wisely and carefully about what you really need and want – extravagance will always come with a high price tag. Is a shower enough or would you like a bath too? How big does the bath need to be? Choose high-quality, easy-care ceramics, tiles and bathroom furniture and consider your options for heating and lighting. Do you dream of luxurious tiles but need to be careful with your budget? Then tile just part of the wall and plaster or paint the other areas – it will still look great!

Our tip

To save costs, you can carry out certain work yourself, for example, stripping tiles and wallpaper, and removing and disposing of your old ceramics. If you intend to keep the existing pipes and connections, make sure these are not damaged during demolition work. Painting the bathroom is another task you can handle yourself.
